Wheelwright Kentucky

Wheelwright, Kentucky is a coal town in Floyd County that was founded in 1916 by the Elk Horn Coal Company and incorporated in 1917. The town was named after Jere H. Wheelwright, the president of the Consolidation Coal Company. The town is located in the valley of the Right Fork Otter Creek, and the only way in and out of town is via the Junction Bridge, also known as "Wheelwright Junction".

Wheelwright is steeped in the rich mining history and survived off the backs of those who paved the way through those mines so long ago.
